After all, all the people you know will understand that you can't just waste time at work, as there is just your job. You will have time for them after the program.

Second, if your desk is placed in a bustling area, ask your boss to move the desk in a corner that is more quiet. You won't be tempted anymore to look at everybody that is passing by, and also, you will be able to concentrate on the tasks.

Third, and this one is maybe the most important, even if you are employed, try to consider that you are self employed and that your job is in fact your business. And if you stay a little and think, this is for real, but most of the people don't quite understand that. Therefore, what would you to increase the sales or the effectiveness of your "business"? Would that be right from the perspective of the bosses? If yes, take a shot and apply what you have in mind. You will be sighted as the one that is creative in the company, and therefore, in the near future you might go up in the hierarchy. And that's pretty much it. It's up to you to apply the above principles. Though, if you apply them, you will see that being prolific has never been easier.
